Here's where I deviated from the "DIY" concept. Not being a woodworker, and lacking some of the better tools and skills needed to do this right, I went to my local cabinet shop, and had them cut the MDF, plywood and the 1" square fillet/brace material.
This included rough cut driver holes. I finished the driver cutouts by hand to provide a snug fit to the driver frame.
